Background

About Dr Lim

Dr Chris Lim is a consultant ophthalmologist whose expertise is built on comprehensive general ophthalmic training followed by dual subspecialist fellowships — a two-year clinical fellowship in Cornea, External Eye Disease, and Refractive Surgery within the National University Health System in Singapore, and a further fellowship in Cornea and Oculoplastics at the Royal Perth Hospital in Australia.

His clinical interests centre on comprehensive ocular surface management, complex cornea and anterior segment reconstruction, and refractive correction. He founded and leads the Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Service at NUHS Singapore, which has grown into a major regional referral centre. He is frequently consulted by colleagues for complex pre-operative surgical planning across specialties.

Dr Lim completed a PhD at the University of New South Wales on contact lens-related infectious keratitis across Asia. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, with a pioneering interest in the impact of microplastics and environmental contaminants on ocular health — his group was the first to identify microplastics in commercial lubricant eyedrops and investigated PFAS in myopia control contact lenses.

A dedicated educator, he holds an Adjunct Assistant Professorship at the NUS Centre for Sustainable Medicine and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He also lectures at LASALLE University of the Arts, where he co-founded the Sustainable Medicine Design Lab.
